Gorilla FC beat Mukura Victory Sports 3-1 in an exciting Rwanda Premier League week 5 game at Kigali Pele Stadium on Friday, September 27. The two teams came in the game with seven points each, though Mukura was one place higher than the sixth-placed Gorilla FC on the league table, thanks to a better goal difference. In the ninth minute, Gorilla FC had a corner kick following a counter attack, and an unmarked Alex Karenzo soared high to score to make it 1-0. Mukura responded by attacking Gorilla’s goal, and in the 23rd minute, Gorilla’s goalkeeper Gad Muhawenayo was forced to make a save, parrying away Abdul Jalilu's 40-yard free kick. The first half ended with Gorilla leading Mukura Victory Sports 1-0. Back in the second half, Mukura’s head coach Lotfi Afahmia brought on Samuel Pimpong and Agyenim Boateng for Emmanuel Nsabimana and Mende respectively in the 46th minute as he sought to beef up his attack. The two players brought more urgency into the play of Mukura as they became more vibrant in attack. In the 55th minute, Pimpong beat his marker and delivered a precise cross into the Gorilla’s penalty area, which Boateng converted beautifully to make it 1-1. Mukura made their second change in the 65th minute as Elie Tatou and Vincent Adams came in for Jordan Dimbumba and Justin Irumva respectively. Gorilla scored again in the 70th minute as Evode Ntwari shot from outside the box to make it 2-1. The team continued to mount pressure on Mukura and scored their third goal through Bobo Camara in the 76th minute. Gorilla’s goalkeeper Muhawenayo made two saves to deny Mukura their second goal in the 92nd and 93rd minute as the game ended 3-1 for the home side. In another fixture at the Bugesera Stadium, Bugesera FC settled for a 0-0 draw with Gasogi United.
