The Eastern Province outfit did not play over the weekend because of the post primary soccer competitions that were being played at their ground in Rwamagana. Aspej are third on the league table standing with 16 points, four adrift of the leaders AS-Kigali while APR are second with 18 points after nine rounds of matches. Aspej coach Elua Mutembe was not available for comment but team captain Theogne Mukamusonera told said that it was a massive chance for them to move within touching distance of the league leaders. “At the start of the season we set ourselves a target of challenging for the league title this season, and this is a great chance to close the gap to just one point. “If we don’t win today’s match then it will be very difficult for us to challenge AS Kigali and APR for the title,” she admitted.
