A driving instructor is in detention after police caught him attempting to sit for the driving test for three candidates at the Muhima exams centre in Nyarugenge District. According to Rwanda National Police (RNP), the suspect identified as Schadrack Mayisha claimed the candidates would pay him after passing the written tests. Mayisha, 40, was arrested on Friday August 12 alongside a police officer who is said to have facilitated him to enter the exams room unchecked. CP John Bosco Kabera, the RNP Spokesperson, said police invigilators at the Computer-Based Driving Tests Centre found Mayisha with registration codes of three candidates and arrested him on the spot. The police officer involved in this case, who is suspected to have helped Mayisha to enter the examination room without being checked, has also been arrested,” Kabera said. The police are looking for the third person, another instructor for a driving school in Kigali, who is believed to be an accomplice. Mayisha is currently in the custody of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), as criminal investigation continues. He faces fraud and corruption charges, which attract a sentence of five to seven years in prison each.
