Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Joseph Rutabana, has told The New Times that his office is closely following up Sandra Teta’s battery case which was reportedly committed by her boyfriend Weasel Manizo, with whom they have two children. “We are closely following up the case! Her parents are here, they have been meeting and talking with her, and we have also seen her and talked to her. Thats all I can tell you for the moment,” Rutabana said. This follows Teta’s public appearance “in good shape,” something social media users alleged to be a cover up for the abuse she faced last week when a photo of her severely bruised face made rounds on social media in Uganda and Rwanda. Ugandan media reported last week that the incident that left Teta fighting for her life happened when Manizo attacked the socialite at Nomads Bar in Bunga together with their kids, and accused her of being negligent and cheating on him. A picture of the children surrounded by a crowd at the bar also went viral. Despite Teta sharing on her social media that she was rather attacked by unknown goons, her followers in Uganda and Rwanda on social media are calling for her justice, and that she may “come back home.” Daniella Atim Mayanja, wife to Jose Chameleon, Manizo’s brother, posted new pictures on her Instagram page as evidence that her brother-in-law has been physically abusing Teta for some time now. Activists, celebrities and concerned citizens have been calling out relevant institutions to stop Manizo’s alleged continued domestic violence against Teta.
