Newly promoted Rwandan premier league clubs Sunrise FC and Rwamagana City FC are bent on maintaining their top flight status next season. The new season kicks off on August 19th and Sunrise FC have been busy in the market after bringing in players such as Samson Babuwa (Free agent), Brian Ssali (Ndejje University), Itangihatse Jean Paul, Mbogo Ali (Gasogi), and Berrian Scarla (Gasogi) to beef up their team. They have also on the other hand extended the contracts of some players who helped them win the second division league like; Uwambazimana Leon, Nzayisenga Jean d’Amour, and Nzabonimana Prosper. Nigerian striker Samson Babuwa who scored sixteen goals during the 2019/20 season has promised fireworks following spells at Kiyovu Sports and in Angola. “I am happy to be back at Sunrise FC, this is my home, this is where I attained cult status, I like their new project and I am glad to join,” Babuwa told Times Sport. “I cannot wait for the league to start for me to start banging in the goals. I am ready and I cannot wait to make the fans happy.” Sunrise have already played one friendly game in which they defeated APR by two goals to nothing in Nyagatare and they have lined up a series of other friendlies including a clash with Rayon Sports. Sunrise FC have filled all the loopholes in their team and they claim to be ready for the coming season Meanwhile Rwamagana City FC, another team that was promoted to the topflight league this season have been quiet in the transfer window with majority of their key players including Joshua Mbanza and Jean Pierre Muganaza set to stay. The club skipper Emmanuel Uwimana has already signed a new two year contract. Their new head coach Emmanuel Ruremesha has already started work and is expected to play a couple of friendly games against the likes of Sunrise FC in the coming days. Rwamagana City are keen to sign a prolific attacker who can score goals and also bring in central defenders. The ambitions of both teams is to stay in the premier league as both coaches have already stated in previous interviews and that remains their ultimate aim for now.
