NADINE INGABIRE is a Rwandan student and teacher based in China, who recently released her debut song. “I have always wanted to sing but couldnt get the opportunity to be a singer until 2018 when I started singing professionally. I decided to become an artiste because I thought I owed it to myself to use my talent to tell stories that might help or heal someone since art is a powerful thing.” She started with live music performing, although the beginning was not quite easy for her, having started out in a foreign country. “It was so hard doing karaoke in a country which is not yours due to the language and culture barriers. It took me a long time to get to where I am now but seeing my talent growing, and believing in myself made it so doable and there is no turning back. That alone motivates me,” she said. After being a live singer for two years, Nadine became an independent artiste and has since released her very first song dubbed ‘With You,’ a love song. For her, her music journey really just started as this is her debut single. Since she lives in China yet the music production there is far different from western music, let alone African music it was difficult to find a good producer to work with and build the style of music she wanted. She looks forward to doing some collaborations with fellow Rwandans and big African artists in the near future. The 24-year-old is the youngest in a family of four. She was born and raised in Kanombe, Kigali, and studied at APAPER primary school and Ecole Francaise for high school. She went to China in 2016 for her university studies and majored in Logistics Management. She is an English teacher who lives in Ningbo City and currently doing her Masters in Law. She looks up to Alicia Keys for her creative process, and the skills she has in producing her songs and the way she tells stories with her songs. In Rwanda, the singer likes The Ben, whose talent she has admired from a very young age.
