In a bid to increase affordable 4G-enabled smartphones and boost ‘Connect Rwanda’ government initiative, KTRN Rwanda has signed a partnership agreement with INFINIX Mobility to avail to Rwandans 4G-enabled smartphones at subsidized prices. KTRN Rwanda is the country’s only 4G LTE wholesaler while Infinix is one of the major importers and distributors of smartphones in the country. Connect Rwanda is an initiative aimed at deepening the penetration of smartphones in the country. The partnership signed by the two companies will see KTRN subsidize the gap between 3G and 4G-enabled smartphone pricing so as these Infinix phones (3G&4G enabled) can be sold at the same price. Besides the benefit of buying a smartphone at an affordable price, anyone who will buy a 4G enabled smart phone from an Infinix point of sale shall enjoy the most reliable and fastest broadband internet on the market as he or she will get free 10GB Data from Mango Telecom as a welcome pack. “After assessing how different 4G-enabled phones and 3G phones are sold on the market, we felt so concerned on the pricing and as a result, we have decided to partner with Infinix Mobility Rwanda to bring down the cost of 4G enabled handsets thus making it affordable to everyone,” said Daeheak AN, Chief Executive Officer at KTRN. This subsidizing strategy is expected to support around 10,000 Rwandans to own and adapt to 4G smartphones while fostering the use of advanced digital services on the other hand. With a 4G LTE coverage of over 98% of the population, the focus is now on ensuring fast internet access to all Rwandans. “Infinix is happy to be part of this project, as it is in line with Rwandan Government priority to address & accelerate the economic growth and poverty reduction through digital economy therefore our main purpose is to increase 4G-enabled mobile phones and better quality internet of 4G technology penetration which will facilitate the Electronic Financial Transactions.” Said Rick Zhang, the Country Representative of Infinix. The partnership will run for three months starting from 20th July 2022; Furthermore, Rwandans should not miss this golden opportunity of buying an INFINIX 4G-enabled smartphone at an affordable price.
