To be clear, first and foremost dear reader, ‘funny’ in this case is going to be defined as general facts that my friends and I find amusing and very funny. Fact 1 Did you know that a camel stores fat, and not water as many may guess, in its hump? The camel uses the stored fat as nourishment when food is scarce, especially since they live in the desert. When a camel uses the fat inside the hump, it becomes limp and droops down, while with proper food the hump returns to normal. The hilarious part is that this is the same for human beings as well. Big bellies store excess calories known as visceral fat. Except, this is not a tool for survival as in the case of a camel. So, go hit that gym, yeah? Fact 2 Did you know that the Vatican is the smallest country in the world, yet consumes more wine than anywhere else in the world? One of the most popular Google searches asks whether the Pope is also allowed to consume wine or alcohol in general. But why don’t people want the Pope to have a good time? Anyway, there’s no official restriction to the Pope’s diet and the same goes for the clergy in general. Fact 3 Did you know that the liver is the only organ in the human body that can regenerate if cut off? The main role of the liver is to filter all of the blood in the body and break down poisonous substances, such as alcohol and drugs. However, each time your liver filters alcohol, some of its cells die. Prolonged alcohol misuse (drinking too much) over many years reduces the liver’s ability to regenerate. So friend, why do you love alcohol again? Fact 4 Did you know that Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system, just a little bigger than Earth’s moon, and the closest planet to the sun, yet not the hottest? Also, a day on Mercury is longer than a year on Earth. Makes me wonder if even that amount of time would help some of us not procrastinate? I mean since tomorrow takes a long time to come, we may be forced to do what we have to do, today? But alas, there has never been life on Mercury and never will be, at least, according to science’s latest updates. Fact 5 Did you know that Carl Benz was the first person to ever invent the first true modern automobile? However, the brilliant man didn’t have a good business acumen, according to reports, and his product was not doing so well on the market. His wife, Bertha Benz, sensing the need to publicise her husband’s invention, financed the development of the horseless carriage with her dowry. She decided to take the Patent-Motorwagen No. 3 on a long-distance cross-country drive between Mannheim and Pforzheim, 105 km (65 miles). She did so without informing her husband or asking for permission from authorities, which was later considered the world’s first car theft. It was the first time an internal combustion engine automobile had been driven over a significant distance, which attracted plenty of attention and proved to be an ingenious marketing ploy. Bertha Benz believed in the invention of her man and did everything so that the world could see it as well. Can I know what your girl is doing to support you as well or should I mind my own business? Fact 6 Did you know that a female elephant is called a cow? When female elephants enter their adult years, they are called cows. The calves stay together in their mother’s herd and follow the lead of a matriarch elephant. When the matriarch dies, the closest relative takes the position. Male elephants leave the herd between the ages of 10-12 years to go live a solitary life and wait for mating. Now, tell me, just randomly, if we converted our society from a patriarchal to a matriarchal one, would then our women leaders be called cows? No? Okay!
