The 2022 transfer window is ongoing with clubs signing players to beef up their teams for the new campaign. Most clubs prefer players who are free so that they do not spend money paying transfer fees as it helps to maintain their finances. Times Sport takes a look at four Rwandan players in Europe who are free agents and could move to new clubs this window. Abdul Rwatubyaye The towering centre-back was released by Macedonian champions FK Shkupi this summer not because of his performance but due to an injury. Rwatubyaye was the best central defender for the first half of the Macedonian league last season after making eighteen appearances and netting two goals but he sustained a terrible heel injury in a mid-season training camp in Turkey and could not play any part in the second round. He is expected to be fully fit in October but following his release from Shkupi through mutual agreement, a club can gamble and sign him or he must wait till January to get a team. Bryan Ngwabije Ngwabije who was the skipper of French third tier side Lyon La Duchere declined an offer of contract extension after spending two years at the club. The talented guardsman who is capable of playing anywhere across the back four is now a free agent and fancies a move to a French Ligue 2 team. Salomon Nirisarike The Rwandan central defender was shown the exit door by the Armenian club after one and half years together. Nirisarike mostly started games from the bench last season and the club have released him as they have various options in his position. He played just 29 games in all competitions for Urartu in his sixteen-month stay with the club. Nirisarike who previously played in Belgium could stay in Armenia and sign for a new team to continue his career. Maxime Kali Wenssens The agile shot stopper’s contract with KV Mechelen ended last month and he is now a free agent as a new deal was not agreed. Wenssens, 20, was the first choice goalkeeper of the KV Mechelen U-21 side where he made a couple of appearances on the bench of the senior team as a third choice goalkeeper. The budding goalkeeper feels he is ready to play at an appreciable level and since he has parted ways with Mechelen, he could sign for one of the newly promoted Jupiter League teams where he could be guaranteed a starting place.
