Rapper Sema Solé is planning on releasing a new project potentially named ‘Iyenga’ following his ‘Bururu EP’ project released in 2021which at the time granted the aspiring rapper much success. The album’s tone, sound and lyrical essence is meant to convey “a feeling of liquefying or melting of self” as Sema describes it. “The theme of the project is metaphorically describing the melting of self, and is meant to illustrate my own a change, or transition. The title would suggest going through an uncomfortable transformation because if something is melting it’s obviously being subjected to heat,” Sema says. The project is about growth, letting go of things you cannot control, the faith concept revealing inner conflicts with God, and reflecting on feelings of childhood innocence. As well as fear and anxiety all these grounded thoughts are expressed lyrically in Sema’s own way. Sema Solé’s fans may expect a project with the same delivery as ‘Bururu’, although his next project is more insightful, and different in what he describes as multiple experiences, thoughts, and feelings. “iBururu is actually my favourite song off my older project, and so I wanted to explore that sound more intimately in my next project, because of that ‘Iyenga’ is more of a consistent laid back, and chill element of artistry, the subjects I talk about are very sobering thoughts and meant to express a more sad tone as opposed to the more hype track-list of ‘Bururu,” Sema says. Sema Solé has been working on his project for a little over a year and is hoping to release it in the month of October. Sema says the source of income as a rapper is mostly gained through networking and in some rare cases going viral on Tik Tok. One of his tracks ‘Kama’ with over 700k streams on Spotify. Sema’s track is listed as number 17 in Rwanda which caught the attention of many people hence granting him success, building his profile, and reaching over 50k monthly streams overall. “Maybe I think too much about it, but at times I know I make better music than some artists and they are granted more recognition. I think that could be my own flaws as I find myself sleeping on what I can do because I don’t want to portray myself a certain way to the public eye. Nevertheless, as I embrace my art there’s a profound realisation that I only have one shot at this life thing, why am I trying to appease people, I should be living my life and doing what I love,” Sema says. The artist further elaborates on being aware of the pacing of time, understanding that his years of youth aren’t permanent, further expressing the need to exhaust his creativity in his current stage of life.
