Rwanda premier league side Gasogi United have announced they will retire the jersey No.5 to honour Liberian attacking midfielder, Herron Berrian Scarla, who is leaving the club after three years. Scarla, 27, was signed from SC Kiyovu in September 2019, and is one of very few players who had been at the club since their promotion from the second division championships three years ago. He was initially offered a one-year deal, before extending it by two more years in 2020. “I will never forget my time at Gasogi,” said Scarla. “I thank the management, staff, coaches and the players for making my three years a joy,” His jersey will not be worn by any players until 2025, the club said in a tweet on Wednesday. The number #5 shirt worn by Herron Berriane will be stored for three years and no one else will wear it to honor him. Gasogi finished in 11th position, with 34 points, on the 16-team league table last season.
