RWANDAN MUSIC LOVERS are in for a treat as they await the highly anticipated ‘Inkotanyi Cyane’ concert slated for this Friday, to celebrate the 28th National Liberation Day of Rwanda. Celebrated Rwandan singers, Mariya Yohana, Ruti Joel and Jules Sentore will be performing alongside Massamba Intore during the concert at Camp Kigali, organisers have confirmed. Speaking to The New Times, Massamba the brains behind the show said that preps for the concert are in high gear and all artistes on the line-up are doing final rehearsals. The Kanjogera hit maker said that this concert aims to help many reflect on how far the country has come, as well as celebrate some of the key events that led to the liberation of Rwanda through songs and other entertainment activities. “This concert is going to be more of ‘Igitaramo’ (cultural gathering) where we will be performing some of the songs and sounds that we used before, during, and after the liberation struggle to boost morale of RPA soldiers. It is also a great space for music lovers to celebrate the 28th liberation in style with their favourite musicians,” he said. Masamba further noted that the reason why he chose a mixed line-up of both fast-rising artistes and iconic musicians like Mariya Yohana, is to cater for both the young generation born after 1994 and older people who will be at the concert. “This is a strategic line-up for everyone to turn up. Mariya Yohana is among the oldest musicians we have in the country, while Jules and Ruti have the young audience. It is a line up for all!” Masamba explained. The 53-year-old musician also urged revellers to dress in army green at the concert to give respect to the sons and daughters that liberated Rwanda 28 years ago. Tickets to the concert are already available via rgtickets.com on Rwf10, 000 for ordinary tickets and Rwf20, 000 for VIP seats, while a table of eight will go for Rwf400, 000.
