Celebrated French rapper, La Fouine, says he always knew the right time would come for him to perform in Rwanda. The rapper, born Laouni Mouhid, arrived in Kigali on Wednesday, June 29, ahead of his highly-anticipated concert slated for Saturday, July 2 at Kigali Car Free Zone’s Imbuga City Walk. His performance is one of the concerts scheduled at the second edition of AIC-MOCA festival that opens in Kigali Friday, July 1 to Sunday July 3. It will be La Fouine’s first performance of its kind in Kigali, an occasion the French musician says has come at the right time. Asked whether he had ever wanted to perform in Rwanda even before he was invited for the AIC-MOCA festival, the rapper said he had to wait for the right time to do a concert and entertain his Rwandan audience. “It is now an honor to finally be here in Rwanda and I am looking forward to transmitting this energy to the public at the festival,” he said. La Fouine said he never hesitated when Africa In Colors came knocking to honour their invitation to perform at the AIC-MOCA festival. “There was no hesitation because I am so excited to be here. What is important is that the African youth know the love we are bringing them and we are ready to share exciting and spectacular music moments with this young audience,” he added. Riderman, Afrique, Chris Hat and Angell Mutoni are among local artists expected to share the stage with the rapper this weekend. AIC-MOCA festival is a joint project by Africa in Colors, a Rwandan-based art initiative represented by Raoul Rugamba and Movement of Creatives Africas (MOCA), a French based initiative represented by Cameroonian art entrepreneur Alain Bidjeck. The duo produced the first edition in Paris last year after reaching a strategic partnership agreement in 2020, to rethink the African creative ecosystem of tomorrow, in order for it to impact, in a sustainable way, locally and globally. Masterclass workshops, conferences, tours, cultural exhibitions and B2B meetings are among other initiatives on the festival agenda for creatives, local and international, to share experiences on how best they can turn their creatives into gold. Concerts, video gaming, virtual reality will also be organised to ensure participants and the audience in general is entertained during the festival. Tickets for a series of the concerts lineup during the festival are available via http://www.kigali-aic.le-moca.com/ for Rwf7, 000 for regular early birds tickets and Rwf10, 000 at the gates, as well as Rwf20, 000 for VIPs
