ALL ROADS lead to the Kigali Stadium on Tuesday, June 28 as APR FC lock horns with AS Kigali in the final of the 2022 Peace Cup. APR FC won the domestic league this season and they will be looking forward to swoop a double by lifting the Peace Cup too. Although the army side won the league early this month, they were not able to defeat AS Kigali in the league games this season. The first leg ended in a goalless draw while AS Kigali were triumphant in the return tie. AS Kigali will be hoping to maintain their dominance this season over their rivals as they set their eyes on winning the Peace Cup trophy which will grant them a ticket to play in the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup. Times Sport takes a look at five players who can decide the outcome of the match. Haruna Niyonzima (AS Kigali) The veteran winger was the man of the match when the two sides met earlier this month in the league. The former Amavubi skipper proved that he still has a lot to offer as he kept the APR midfield silent throughout the game and capped a great performance with a fabulous goal. Haruna remains the engine of the AS Kigali team and he can win the day for his side with another extraordinary performance. Djabel Manishimwe (APR FC) A tireless midfielder, Manishimwe is the fulcrum that the APR FC team revolves around. On his day, he is unplayable in midfield with his workaholic nature. If he comes to the party, expect APR FC to take control of the game. Shabani Hussein (AS Kigali) A ruthless goal monger, Hussein was the top scorer in the domestic league this season with fifteen goals and it was his strike in the semifinals against Police FC which secured AS Kigali the ticket to the Peace Cup final. The Burundian striker can torment any defense in the league on any day and he just needs half a chance to find the back of the net. If the AS Kigali midfielders are able to provide Hussein with the assists, expect him to kill the game. Anicet Ishimwe (APR FC) The 19-year-old attacking midfielder made the difference in the semifinals against Rayon Sports when he came on in the second half and tore apart their defense. Whether he starts or comes on again as a substitute, Ishimwe can singlehandedly determine the outcome of the game with one moment of brilliance. Gilbert Mugisha (APR FC) The forward netted a second half brace against Police FC in the last league game of the season and he will be hoping to replicate that in the Peace Cup final against AS Kigali. A very talented attacking player, Mugisha is capable of playing as a striker or from the flanks. He is a big threat to defenders due to his versatility and can cause damage if he is given room to operate.
