Bank of Kigali (BK) has revealed the three winners who won various prizes in its promotion which targeted clients living in Diaspora. The five-month campaign was dubbed ´Bank home and Win Big.’ The winners were announced at a press conference that took place at BK headquarters, on June 24. Winners included Gonzalve Twagirayezu, Telesphore Rugema and Melchiade Ruberintwari. According to Bk officials, the promotion which, was on from February 15 until June 15, was organised in a bid to encourage Rwandans in the diaspora to save and invest back in Rwanda, and that this has been successful. Bank of Kigali staff during a press conference to announce winners of Bank Home and Win Big campaign “Since we started the campaign, we have seen a very big uptake where about 2000 clients interact with Bk and we also deposit through their account as well,” Said Benjamin Mutimura, the Bank of Kigali Chief Commercial Officer. In addition, he said that today was just the closing of the promotion because the diaspora banking will continue, adding that they have many interesting offers for the diaspora community. Those offers include opening an account for free, free incoming transfers (no charges on received international transfers), investment opportunities through BK capital such as the Bk Aguka fund as well as the interest they maintain through banking with BK. Moreover, withdrawals on foreign exchange accounts are also free of charge (up to 5,000 USD or equivalent) and free account maintenance fees, among others. Commenting on the way forward, Mutimura revealed that the BK marketing and diaspora team will reach out to winners next week and be able to hand over their prizes. In addition, he said that the expiration period on the consumption of those prizes is one year. However, if winners are not available for some reason, they will wait for them and be in touch with them in case of any extension. Yves Kayihura, the Head of Retail banking also commended all diaspora customers. He revealed that out of 2000 clients who registered, only 500 were eligible. Kayihura mentioned that to be eligible, one was required to deposit a minimum of Rwf1,000,000 on a new or existing diaspora account and stand a chance to win one of the three prizes. The prizes are two RwandAir economy return tickets to Kigali for the top two, and two nights’ stay (full board) in One & Only Nyungwe for the third winner. “If the winner is not in a RwandAir destination, BK will pay for the connecting flight to a RwandAir destination, from where the passenger will be able to connect to Kigali,” he explained. Winners were selected randomly from those 500 eligible customers from a raffle draw. Kayihura concluded that BK will keep on interacting with diaspora customers, in general, to be able to accommodate their needs.
