Editor, Rwanda Revenue Authority is one of the best performers if it managed to beat its revenue collection target by 108% within the first quarter of 2009, as reported. Despite the economic meltdown which may threaten the revenue body’s future performance, we should all give a lot of support to RRA’s fight against smuggling and tax evasion, if they are to maintain their performance. Efficient tax collection is the only way the country can reduce dependence on foreign aid. Tax evaders and smugglers are the biggest threat to the government’s dream of self reliance. Kicuciro
