Gabiro Guitar has announced plans to release his first album ‘Girishyaka’ that he has been working on for four years. The 10-track album, he says, includes four collaborations. He, however, didn’t specify the release date. After more than a decade in the game, and a few breaks in between, the ‘Carolina’ singer says now is the right time for him to put out an album. “Music is my full-time job now, it is my life,” he told a local news outlet this week. “After dropping an EP (Extended Play) last year, now is time for my debut album. My fans and music lovers in general will enjoy it.” The afro-beat artiste made his breakthrough in 2010 while representing the country at ‘Tusker Project Fame’ in Kenya, a then famous singing competition in the region. He produced a number of hits in the months that followed, then went silent for years. He points to financial constraints for his previous inconsistencies, but assures his fans that he is now ‘here to stay’ after establishing a management label, Evolve Music Group, last year. ‘Igikwe’, a song Gabiro produced with upcoming artiste Confy in May 2021, has been viewed more than 1.2 million times on YouTube and ranks among his biggest hits. When contacted to share more details about his album, he was unable to be reached by press time Friday. The New Times has, however, learned that the album features Nigerian artistes Fiokee and Gray C, rapper Bushali, Canada-based Rwandan artist Neza and fast-rising female singer France.
