Rwanda, South Korea discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb Olivier Nduhungirehe, met with South Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cho Tae-yul, on Monday, September 9, in Seoul, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. While the specific areas of cooperation were not disclosed, their discussions aimed at deepening ties between the two nations across multiple sectors. ALSO READ: Kagame, South Korea president talk cooperation Rwanda and South Korea’s cooperation dates back to 1963, covering key areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, rural development, and information and communications technology. In July this year, the two countries signed a new US$1 billion framework arrangement to provide concessional funding for a range of projects in Rwanda, focusing on transportation, healthcare, and education. This agreement, covering 2024 to 2028, replaced the previous 2022 arrangement of US$500 million and aligns with Rwanda’s National Strategy for Transformation (NST2).
