BY JAMES TASAMBA EASTERN PROVINCE BUGESERA — Twenty biogas plants worth Frw800,000 have been built for residents of Rilima sector in Bugesera district in a bid to encourage the use of alternative energy in homes as an environment conservation measure. The buildings, built partly by UNDP, were reveled last week by a United Nations visiting team staff and director of Rwanda’s environment management authority Rosemary Mukankomeje. Beneficiaries to the pilot project attest that it takes about one and half hours to cook beans using the biogas energy. The main challenges to the project, however, remain bricks, cement and dung, main components to produce energy. Ends
