Albert Sigei, Chief Executive at CIMERWA Plc, said the manufacturer is set to enhance customer experience and also improve productivity after the company acquired its ISO Integrated Management System (IMS) certificate. The certificate, Sigei said, is part of Cimerwa’s drive to strengthen Rwanda as it builds a sustainable business for stakeholders and the society in general. ...because what it means now is that we have sort of taken the next step in terms of ISO certification, he added. The beauty of what we got is that it is integrating a number of certifications. Previously we had ISO certification. But we only had it for quality management systems. Sigei explained that the new certificate merges quality with occupational health and safety among others. The harder job is sustaining such achievements. But I do believe that we have what it takes as a company. Not only do we have the systems and processes, but we have the human resource. Our team has been trained intensely in the past three years in all departments. According to him, the certificate is subject to an annual assessment by the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB). Safety is key In a related development, Cimerwa also reached an agreement with the Rwanda Airports Company (RAC), an initiative that is set to directly contribute to occupational health and safety. Under the agreement, both companies look to exchange lessons towards enhancing the safety of operations and employees. It will be a great learning and sharing opportunity to benefit. Sigei added, It also consolidates our position as market leaders. When you are a leader in the market, it is not only about giving the products, but also leading the way in occupational health and safety as well as quality systems. For Charles Habonimana, Managing Director at RAC, Cimerwa is a long standing partner. We are committed to work together, because your safety is our safety and so is your concern. He added, This partnership is one that will benefit not just our institutions in terms of safety and environmental compliance, but also open up room for more and similar collaborations which put safety at the centre of business development.
