So you have been dating for a couple of months, you love him he adores you, and then… boom! Another football season and all of sudden you are a game widow. Suddenly his obsession with his favourite team outweighs that love he once said was all he needed. His boys become his new roommates since after a great game he had to crush at his friends. So there you are mourning a relationship you hoped would kill your boredom and then check in Alejandro in a magnificent new soap opera and you get hooked. You spend hours watching TV. He spends all his free time watching or talking about his team and sooner than later you have become strangers and can’t stand each other’s favourite hobbies. Ask any man and their hatred for soaps is an eternal one. They have tonnes of complaints as to why their women are glued to screens watching what they call a waste of time. Some women would rather spend a lifetime on needles than sit through a 90minute football game. So comes in a battle of wills that will eventually strangle a great relationship. Hobbies can become relationship breakers of all time sucking out the life of a great couple. It all starts with enjoying a good game, a good movie then the noise of your significant other seems like the greatest block to your enjoyment. You start dreaming of moments alone, far away from her/him in the quietness and in a haven to enjoy your hobby all alone. Then he/she becomes a show stopper and soon someone you once adored and wanted to be with becomes a block you must eliminate. ‘There is no fun in taking women to a game,” say men who see games as a man thing but then again there is no harm in getting the woman you love interested in a game you adore. Take her out to these games and eventually she will learn to enjoy it with you. If your man would rather watch football than a soap opera start enticing him to watch TV with you more. Find a common ground between your hobbies and soon you will make your source of differences a bad memory you have now eliminated. Loving someone means wanting to be with them through things that don’t always excite you but since they like them you sit there. Relationships are built by spending lots of time together while doing what you both love doing. If she loves shopping, walk along with her in shops and try out different things together. It’s never about what you are doing but rather being together during it all. Instead of always watching soccer in the club, do it more at home more often. Your mate might not enjoy the game the way you do but they will appreciate the thought. Learn to occasionally go out with your mate. Make time off busy schedules and explore different hobbies.
