Arsene Uwayezu, team captain of the U-18 national handball team has reiterated his teammates’ vow of making Rwanda proud in the upcoming International Handball Federation Africa Zone V Challenge Trophy, a tournament slated for October 25-30 in Kenya. In August, the national U18 squad was among four other teams that earned an automatic ticket to participate in the Youth World Handball Championships set for 2023 in Croatia. “Our aim is to make the country proud. We are hungry and ready to do better, and we believe we can do our best,” he said. He added: “We know we are going to face tough teams but we have received everything to prepare for the tournament and we will go there and give our best.” The team is in Group A alongside Uganda, Burundi and Somalia. Group B has Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan. Rwanda will first go against Burundi on October 25. The U-20 national team will also participate in the U-20 International Handball Federation Africa Zone V Challenge Trophy tournament. The team is placed in Group B with Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somalia. Group A has Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and South Sudan. The U20 will play their first match against Djibouti on October 25.
