Eto’o invited for One Dollar campaign

Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o Fils is among a host of top African footballers, who have been invited for a charity football match aimed at supporting the ‘One Dollar campaign’ for the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The Minister of Sports and Culture, Joseph Habineza told Times Sport yesterday that Eto’O has already agreed to contact other African players from Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona plus others from Ivory Coast and Mali for the match. “I talked to Eto’o recently and he has agreed to persuade other top African professional players to accept the invitation. “The aim of the match is to gather support for the One Dollar campaign project,” Habineza said. The Minister also confirmed that the match is being planned for late June after Rwanda’s 2010 World/Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers against Zambia and Egypt. The ‘One Dollar Campaign for Genocide Survivors’ is a project developed by the Rwandan Diaspora community and supported by DGD (Diaspora General Directorate) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. One Dollar Campaign’s mission is ‘support and advocacy to improve the living condition and the social welfare of vulnerable genocide survivors and to give them a smile on their face and hope for the future.’ Ends
