From established musicians like The Ben, Deejay Pius and Platini P, to youngsters like DiceThePrince, Rwandan artistes did not disappoint in delivering the best hits for listeners to update their playlists. In no particular order, The New Times picks some of the hottest releases of the month. Sikosa – Kevin Kade ft. The Ben & Element After weeks teasing fans with snippets, Kevin Kade on August 23, finally released highly anticipated track Sikosa which features The Ben and producer Element. Sikosa has been making waves in Rwanda before it’s official release date over how it brought together producer Element, a member of 1:55Am and The Ben who is said to have been in a long time feud with the label. The song, inspired by Oliver N’goma’s iconic song ‘Icole’, has generated debates in town about copyrights which pushed it to get over a million views on YouTube within less than a week. It was as a result removed from Kevin Kade’s YouTube channel on Thursday before it was recovered a day later. Monica - DiceThePrince Rwanda is gaining new talents every year and DiceThePrince is among new promising talents tipped to transform the music industry with his unique Afro-fusion sound. Signed to Deealoh Entertainment, which is also home to Kivumbi King, DiceThePrince has already dropped two singles this year and Monica-the latest among them-is already a hit. The track was produced by Muriro, one of the best audio producers in the game, and directed by Eazy Cut. Ndotsa - DJ Pius ft. Platini P & Uncle Austin DJ Pius is back with a new smash hit ‘Ndotsa’ which features renowned Rwandan artistes Platini P and Uncle Austin. Produced by Yaweeh, the Afrobeat track is already a big tune in town with over 100, 000 streams on different platforms within a week. Bailando - Shaffy US-based musician Shaffy is not new in dropping bangers and his new release ‘Bailando’ is no exception. The Afro-Zouk song was produced by Shaffy’s longtime collaborator producer Element Eleeh and is consistently coming among top hits among local and regional charts. Bailando is available on all streaming platforms. No One - Kenny Sol ft. DJ Neptune After signing for 1:55AM, Kenny Sol continues to expand his music beyond Rwanda by securing collaborations with big musicians around the continent. On August 21, the singer released No One which features Nigerian DJ, Neptune and it already making rounds on headlines across various platforms. The song was produced by Element Pro and directed by Fayzo Pro. Akarara - Flyest ft. Igor Mabano Producer Flyest is launching his singing career with a bunch of tracks including Akarara, the latest track which features Igor Mabano who is currently without management after parting ways with Kina Music. Akarara premiered on August 24, and has already generated thousands of views from different streaming platforms. Spoiler - Kent Larkin ft. Ish Kevin Up and coming vocalist Kent Larkin is not resting and has already dropped another track dubbed ‘Spoiler’ which features renowned Rwandan rapper Ish Kevin. Kent first made rounds on social media for covering and remixing viral songs, but he seems to be launching a solo music career through a number of singles that he is dropping. “Spoiler” premiered on August 30 and is already winning attention of many music listeners across the country. Wowe - The Dice Kid ft. Kivumbi King Two of Rwanda’s finest rappers, TheDiceKid and Kivumbi King, recently teamed and dropped a song produced in the Amapiano genre of South Africa. Dubbed Wowe, the song was produced by Ehlers and Khabibu. It is currently among the most trending tracks in town. Amakashi - Mr Kagame Mr Kagame is back in the game with a new song ‘Amakashi’ which has already been welcomed by Kigalians and beyond. “Amakashi” features a number of big Rwandan music celebrities including Bruce Melodie and Diplomate, one of the reasons that makes the song unique and catchy. Produced by Ayo Rush and Holybeat, Amakashi has already generated thousands of streams on different streaming platforms.
