The final countdown to CHOGM has truly begun with less than a month left to the summit with final preparatory activities underway. In readiness for the summit, senior officials from all the 54 Commonwealth member states have been meeting in London to finalise a policy document for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022 slated for Kigali in June. Over 5,000 delegates are expected to attend the Kigali meeting that is slated for June 20-25. The meeting is expected to host over 30 heads-of-state who have confirmed their attendance, high-level government officials, business people and academicians among others. The number and scale of visitors taking part in the summit is indicative of the opportunity it holds for the economy and players in it. This is not only in direct financial revenue and gains at the summit but also networking and connections with stakeholders and potential partners from across the world. Through the summit, Rwandan entrepreneurs have a chance to expand their market reach as well as forge partnerships with potential players in the respective ecosystems. As for the direct financial gain in the short term, the summit will also see output as participants will need accommodation, logistics, financial and other services. This will see a demand in multiple sectors across the economy. However, to ensure that CHOGM is only a start to long term growth, Positive customer experience in the coming months is key for the country’s short term and medium term tourism sector ambitions as it will inform the reputation of clients and chances of repeat customers.
