NELSON MUGWANEZA also known by stage name EL-Nla is among the young talented rappers in the country today since embarking in the Rwandan music industry in 2018 after completing high school. The rising Hip-Hop star says growing up; music was part of his life and used to make music at the age of 10 in 2009, before he could become a professional rapper. He does hip-hop but mostly the new school also known as Trap in a style called slime. According to Nla, he was inspired to do Rap by American Rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Future among many others. “Challenges that a rising artiste goes through are many but the most challenging thing for me is to get promotion for my music to reach far beyond where it usually reaches. They are so many people who didn’t get to listen to my album who I believe it would have helped in one way or another,” he says. The Rapper told The New Times that in years to come he sees a great future because he believes it can change people’s lives including his. ”Becoming a rapper has always been my dream and I thank God my dream came true. Music is my therapy, whenever I feel down, music brings me back to life and helps me understand that everything is possible,” he says. The young Rapper has an album dubbed “savage on move” which was released in 2020 and can be found on all music platforms available. He is also working on a second album dubbed “Indi wave” which he says will be out soon.
