NORTHERN PROVINCE Musanze—As the third phase of performance contract evaluations heighten, the Prime Minister has rewarded the districts coming first in fulfilling the contracts signed. Presenting the accomplishments from Northern Province, with Musanze and Gicumbi being the first and second respectively, Prime Minister Bernard Makuza said he “appreciated the step taken” and called for resilience from leaders if big impacts were to be made.Rulindo, Gakenke and Burera followed in that order. “A mechanism must be developed to assess the implementation and the impact, there should be accomplishment of the projects started,” Makuza said. He also warned against continued cultivation along the river banks. Minister of Local Government and Social Affairs Protais Musoni asked local leaders to consider increasing on the working hours and involving the general population towards development. He said that the local people should be facilitated to acquire soft loans and reinvest in other projects to alleviate poverty.Ends
