RWANDAN LYRICIST and poet Kivumbi King gave the Rwandan community in Poland a taste of the new wave of Rwandan music in the first two concerts of his Europe tour. The first show took place on April 30, at Foksal Warsaw and the second was held last Saturday in Poznan. It was the first time that the rapper performed in Poland and he did not let partygoers down. After the two successful shows, the ‘Nana’ hitmaker told this publication that the new sound which is produced by the young generation in Rwanda has already won admiration and respect in Europe over how it’s played and loved by many on the continent. This, he said, was seen in his first show which held in the capital of Poland where revellers sung, cheered and danced to most of his recent hits. “It was a massive turn up in all the two shows that we did in Poland and this is just the beginning. We are going to Brussels next week,” he told The New Times. The upcoming rapper is also scheduled to perform in Belgium this weekend, April 14, together with fellow local artistes like Bruce Melodie. In his recent show, the renowned rapper performed alongside other Rwandan artistes based in Poland such as Ivan Fruit, member of Loud Sound Music label which pioneered the drill genre in Rwanda, DJ Lex Lex, DJ Frankos and others. Kivumbi also hailed his energetic performance on different social media platforms saying that it was a result of sleepless nights of rehearsals that he has been doing over the past few years. Some of the hits that he played in the first two shows of his Europe tour include ‘Nakumena Amaso’, which appeared in his debut album ‘DID’, ‘Nana’, ‘Madam’, ‘Whatever’, ‘Fever’, among many others. Kivumbi is among many other Rwandan artistes who are expected in Europe this year including Ish Kevin who will land in Poland on June 11, for his first tour. Kivumbi rose to stardom with his first hit song ‘Madam’ and since then, he has managed to win hearts of music lovers, especially Hip hop and drill fans across the nation. He is also a talented poet, song writer and producer, his unique voice also contributed a lot to his breakthrough to the music industry.
