May 11 Semifinals: 1st leg APR vs Rayon AS Kigali vs Police/Etoile ALL roads lead to the Kigali Stadium on May 11 when archrivals APR and Rayon Sport clash in a mouthwatering Peace Cup semi-final. The return leg will be staged on May 18. The Blues got to this stage after a 3-0 aggregate win over rivals Bugesera despite dominating the second leg where they could have registered a bigger score line had it not been for their misfiring strikers. Moussa Essenu scored the goals for the Blues which led them to the semifinals. Rayon Sport coach Jorge Paixão has cautioned his side not to throw away chances like they did in the last round and expects a very tight match with few goals. “It is always very tense and sometimes emotions get the better of the players when these two teams meet. But I have to prepare for the game in every way,” He said. APR reached the semifinal with 2-1 goal aggregate after losing to Marines in the second leg. Holders AS Kigali eliminated Gasogi United with a 2-1 goal aggregate. The third place playoff is set for May 17 and the Final will be played on May 18. The winner will represent Rwanda in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup. AS Kigali won the last edition of the Peace Cup in the 2018-2019, after beating Kiyovu Sports 2-1.
