Rwandan cyclist Aline Uwera has been named among the top junior women riders from Africa for the current 2022 season by the International Cycling Union (UCI). Uwera who plies her trade locally with Bugesera Cycling Club in Nyamata was ranked third on the African continent behind South Africa’s Caitlin Thompson and Eritrea’s Romina Girmay who are tied at first as well as Raja Chakir from Morocco and Saron Berhe who occupies the second position. The budding Rwandan cyclist represented her country at the 2022 Africa Road Championship in Egypt in March this year where she brought home a bronze medal. She is gradually carving a niche for herself on the African continent as she is considered a great prospect who can win many accolades for her country in the future.
