Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club will take their training camp to İstanbul, Turkey, on Saturday night, during which they expect to play build-up game as part of their preparation for the highly-anticipated Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2022 play offs slated from May 21 - 28 at the Kigali Arena. The team will spend eight days in the camp before returning to Kigali on May 15 for the final preparations before the playoffs begin. The REG-powered side advanced to the last-eight playoffs in Kigali after finishing top of the Sahara Conference played in Dakar, Senegal, in March. Weekend Sport has established that REG does plan to play three friendly games in Turkey but it was not clear by press time which teams they will play. “The teams is preparing to fly to Turkey for a training camp and friendly matches will be a good test for the boys ahead of the playoffs of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2022 that get underway in Kigali this month,” a reliable source from the club’s management confirmed to this publication. The team is scheduled to depart Kigali International Airport for Turkey on Saturday night, May 7 with head coach Robert Pack traveling with an unchanged 12-man roster that he used during the Sahara Conference in Dakar. Rwanda’s REG is one of eight teams from eight different countries that will be rubbing shoulders in Kigali to establish who will become the BAL 2022 champion. REG’s BAL roster: Cleveland Joseph Thomas Jr, Antony Walker, Adonis Jovon Filer, Pitchou Manga, Jean Jacques Wilson Nshobozwabyosenumukiza, Dieudonné Ndizeye Ndayisaba, Olivier Shyaka, Elie Kaje, Habimana Ntore, Pierre Thierry Vandriessche, Kami Kabange and Axel Mpoyo.
