The Hater: I hate people who…

…visit without notice and stay without leaving. This habit has really stood the test of time. Modern technological innovations have been ignored by some people who still think it is cool to leave the village with bags and surprise people by pitching camp at their homes unannounced. As if that is not bad enough some simply hang around without any signs of departure. It is always better to inform your host in time before showing up. For those who still do this, I just hope you find your hosts having moved to another unknown address far from where they used to stay. …simply have no table manners. By the way you do not need to have grown up in a home that had a beautiful dinning table to learn some of the decent habits expected of you when it is time to eat. You just need a sensible parent and a functioning brain. There is this guy who made me think a lot about at least assaulting him. While at a restaurant at the Ministry of Justice offices, the imbecile started picking French fries (potato chips) with his unwashed fingers! When told that he was doing something wrong, he simply said, “I have only picked one.” And by this time his sick fingers were reaching for a second one. I think he only survived a beating because we were at the Ministry of Justice premises! …think serious people have time to waste. I am sometimes surprised by how so many idle people need our company. Have you not felt like harming some of these taxi drivers that park their cars and have about three youths beckoning passengers to board. Once the taxi is full, you are compelled to wait for this lazy driver to show up. They forget that by delaying some of us who have things to do, they are actually delaying Rwanda’s development plans. If you take a close look, their actions are bordering on treason. If they really do not feel like driving they should leave the keys behind next time. For your information, The Hater can also drive. …keep asking irrational questions. I often wonder whether some people stop thinking the moment they open their mouth. You find an old friend and you ask him/her to remind you of their telephone number because you lost your old sim card and they hit you with a very lame question. “You mean you don’t have my number?” Well If I did, would I be asking? If I cannot hate such people then this column should stop being published. …think that by acting mean and serious they are doing a lot of work. Last Friday was Labour Day and it had me thinking about some of the annoying labour practices. Have you ever been driving and then a police officer stops you but says nothing much? He holds onto your permit or other documents and keeps you waiting for hours. One such officer did this to a bus heading to Nairobi last week. During this time, he refused to listen to the driver or even charge him for the alleged traffic offence. Although he eventually the bus go, I could not stop wondering what his intentions were really.
