APR head coach Mohamed Adil Errade has lauded his players after defeating Bugesera FC 1-0 on Sunday at Kigali stadium in Nyamirambo, a result which took the champions back to the league summit. Midfielder Bonheur Mugisha scored the crucial goal for APR in added time as the army side returned to the top of the national football league – albeit on a one-point difference with second place Kiyovu who lost to Gasogi United 2-0 on Saturday. “This is one of the best moments for my players and technical staff, I am happy with my players. They gave their best to win the game. I think with the way we played in this game, we showed that we have the mental strength to defend the league title,” Errade said. APR’s win took them to 51 points while Kiyovu is one point off in second place after 23 matches played this season. With seven league matches to go, the title race is expected to go down to the wire. Meanwhile AS Kigali played a 2-2 draw against Etincelles FC. Rachid Mutebi scored twice for the visitors in the 53rd and 90+1 minutes however Michael Sarpong and Hussein Shabani each scored a goal in the 80th and 82nd minutes respectively to restore parity.
