The international basketball federation (FIBA) has announced June 13 to 18 as the dates for the U-18 Zone V Afrobasket qualifiers to be held in Kampala, Uganda. Countries that are set to take part in the qualifiers are: Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan and Tanzania. It was earlier expected that Egypt would host the competition, but FIBA has awarded the hosting rights to Uganda. Last week, Rwanda’s U-18 national teams in the boys’ and girls’ categories started preparations for the U-18 Zone V Afrobasket qualifiers. The boys’ team is coached by Yves Murenzi, while the girls’ team is coached by Jean Claude Muhirwa Rukundo.
