Gisagara Volleyball Club have started preparations for the 2022 African Club Championships slated for May 5-18 in Tunis, Tunisia. Gisagara are the defending champions of the domestic league, and that is why they are Rwandas representatives at the continental tournament. As the team gears up for the tournament, it is carrying out daily training at the Gisagara Gymnasium in Gisagara district. Gisagara last appeared at the continental competition in 2019 in Cairo, finishing 11th in that edition. In 2018, the team was disqualified just days before the kick-off for delaying to confirm their participation to the organizers. Speaking to Times Sport on Thursday, Fidele Nyirimana the Head Coach of the club, said: “It’s the second time Gisagara will be participating in the Africa Club Championship but we will go in the tournament hoping to do well. He revealed that the team expects to play friendly games before going into the continental competition.
