National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has confirmed Musanze district as the venue for the third phase of both sitball and sitting volleyball national champions. Both events are scheduled for tomorrow. Thirteen clubs have confirmed participation; eight of those are men’s clubs, and five are for girls’. The men’s clubs are Intwari, Musanze, Rubavu Gatagara (Huye), Gatagara (Nyanza), Kagoma, THT, and UNR. The women will be competing only in sit ball, and the clubs that will take part include Kigali Stars, Rubavu, Intwari, THT and UNR. The NPC Technical Director Eric Karasira told Times Sport that he expects the third phase to be more competitive than the first two because the players have been inspired and will be seeking to impress the visiting British Paralympic legend Tanni Thompson. “Thompson inspired the players with testimonies of her various achievements including winning Paralympic Games gold medals. “The players now have genuine belief that they can succeed through sports even if they are disabled,” Karasira said. Intwari won the second phase of men’s sitting volley ball tourney while UNR won the women’s sitball tournament in Rusizi. Ends
