Leonard Nhamburo, the head coach of the Rwanda women’s cricket team, insists he is content with the level of his team after one year in charge. The Zimbabwean tactician was handed the job last year and says he is on the course to build a winsome team. “As a coach you always want to win, I am very happy to have this achievement with the team,” Nhamburo was quoted as saying in Newsday, a Zimbabwean news outlet. He added: “This means a lot considering it is still a growing team, it shows where we are going. There are a lot of good things awaiting.” Nhamburo further stressed that he has instilled a winning mentality into the players and they can now compete for titles anywhere. “When I came here (Rwanda) my main goal to move them from a team that only competes to a team that can challenge for titles.” “For me things are going as per plan, if you look at the squad it has a lot of youngsters, so in the coming couple of years the team will be a force to reckon with,” he further noted. Rwanda beat hosts Nigeria last weekend to lift the maiden edition of the T20 Women Cricket Tournament in Lagos.
