Following the election of six councillors from Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge, on Thursday, August 22, the City of Kigali council has 12 members, including six appointed by President Paul Kagame on Wednesday. Each of the three districts is represented by two councillors, a man and a woman. The elected councillors are Rose Baguma and Frank Gatera for Gasabo District, Liliose Larisse Nyinawinkindi and Aimé Tsinda for Kicukiro, and Muhammed Semakula and Martine Urujeni for Nyarugenge District. The councillors appointed by President Kagame are Samuel Dusengiyumva, the current Mayor, and Fulgence Dusabimana, the Vice Mayor in charge of Urbanization and Infrastructure, and Christian Mugenzi Kajeneri, Marie Grace Nishimwe, Flavia Gwiza, and Jack Ngarambe. They will also elect the Bureau of the City of Kigali Council, which is made up of the chairperson, vice chairperson, and secretary.
