VISUAL LOCAL ARTIST Jean Noel Tuyizerimana in partnership with Kigali public library and Envision Media Arts Collective has organised a two-week solo art exhibition dubbed “African Soul” honoring African stories from different generations. The exhibition kicked off on Saturday at Kigali public library in Kacyiru, Gasabo district and will run until March 19. According to Noel also known as Tdjano, the opening day of the exhibition was a success as different people were present and appreciated all his artworks which represent and embrace the African originality. He noted that his artworks represent the characters of an African soul from different generations. The main aim for the exhibition was to make people understand and appreciate that being an African is amazing and an identity. He revealed that they are many things that have been an African identification over the years but as time passed people threw it away and adopted what other continents were doing instead of promoting their own African styles and culture to make it international as Africans. Tdjano went to Ecole D’art de Nyundo from 2016 to 2018 and a year after completing his studies started doing art professionally. This is his first solo exhibition and was inspired by the daily lifestyle of Africans which brought about ideas that are in his artworks. He believes they are useful in building up a better continent and helping Africans embrace their origin. He also said that he was amazed by how the attendees loved, connected and saw the spirit of Africans through his artworks. The exhibition is open from 8am to 8pm. He appreciated everyone who attended the exhibition and called upon those have not paid a visit to attend and see the beauty more than anything.
