Congo)Day 4- APR 3-2 Prison Service (Nigeria) APR are now one win away from entering history books as the first Rwandan side to reach the semi-finals of the Africa Men’s Volleyball Club Championship. This year’s event is being held in Cairo, Egypt. The local champions held their nerve on Sunday to qualify for the championship quarter-finals after seeing off Nigeria’s Prison Service in a thriller fiver setter (3-2) which lasted over two hours. Prison Service started off as the stronger side winning the first set 25-21 but APR leveled terms after a hard fought 26-24 second set victory. The army-side kept the rhythm in the third set (25-14) but the Nigerians fought back with a (25-19) fourth set victory to take the game into a set decider which the Rwandan side claimed 15-7. It was by far APR’s toughest game of the championship and could have given them a clue of what to expect in the quarter-finals. Defending champions Zamalek scooped the other quarter-final slot in Pool B after an easy straight sets win over Defense Forces of Ethiopia. The other sides through to the last eight include GSU of Kenya, eight-time record champions Al Ahly of Egypt, FAP of Cameroon and Al Ahly of Tripoli. Ends
