He has appeared on different stages and his recently released project is proof that he is here to stay. Kenny Barikage best known as Og2tone who rose to stardom after appearing on Rwanda Rwejo album has now released his second extended play (EP) dubbed Umunyabigwi 2. The EP, which dropped on February 26, features some renowned merging rappers like Logan Joe, Trizzie Ninety Six, Kenny k-shot, and Ririmba. Talking to The New Times, Og2tone said that he made this EP to inspire young rappers and show them that rap is a music genre like others which can take one to greater heights. “This EP is about whats happening on the streets and how we live on them,” he said, “If you take time and listen from the first track to the last, you can hear the problems rappers face in the streets and how they are treated in the community”. Another thing, Og2tone said, Umunyabigwi II is a piece that tells the story of his career from his childhood life, to being one of the best young rappers on the scene right now “It was a long journey, but as many saw, it has started paying off. Our performance at the Drip City Concert proves it. We are just starting.” “Rap is not the old genre that many used to see as a music style of gangs. It’s our way to preach love and change lives” he added. For Og2tone, hip hop is slowly taking over in Rwanda, and anyone who is interested in investing in music should consider this scene because it has a large fan base. Produced by Ehlers on the track and Pro zed, the EP is made up of 8-tracks, all in Hip-hop, trap and drill genre. Songs like ‘Sodoma’, ‘Street Melodies’, ‘Mbikuzurize’, Shooters, ‘Friday’ and ‘Benitha’ have already won the attention of many music lovers in the country.
