FIRST RISING ARTISTE CONFY, real name Confiance Munyaneza, is set to drop a semi-album in a new genre (commonly known as Riddim playlist), on Friday February 4. The upcoming artiste confirmed the development to The New Times in an exclusive interview on Monday. Dubbed 1MIN, the 6 track playlist all produced in afro pop and R&B is said to be part of the works expected from the ‘Igikwe’ singer before the official album slated for mid this year. “It is a new genre which most local artistes have not been introduced to,” he added, “It is part of our journey as artistes to modernize our content as we target bigger audiences.” The move is part of a series of efforts shown by the now-trending ‘Mali’ singer as he claims his spot on the local music scene. Produced by Nizbeats, Kennypro, Hervis Beats and Caestpro David, the semi-album has no features and it will be on all online streaming platforms. Talking to this publication, Confy said that the idea to make a semi album is to hype his fans before dropping his first ever album, and also introducing his subgenre to disc jockeys, producers and other players in the music industry. “Growing up, I had a dream not only to make music, but also to pioneer a different sound. I have been working on it for a long time, and its time that Rwandans also get to hear these energetic pieces.” Confy, has previously been widely declared as a favorite songwriter and singer, two years after debuting on the local market.
