Belgian Pro Jupiler League side KV Mechelen wants their league game with OH Leuven on Saturday, January 15, to be canceled after Rwandan goalkeeper Maxime Wenssens tested positive for Covid-19. Both the first choice goalkeeper Gaetan Coucke and Wenssens, who is his deputy tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, and Times Sport understands that the club have officially written to the Belgian Federation to postpone their game. However, the Belgian Federation has rejected the request as they count Wenssens as an Under-21 League player though he was also registered by the club for the senior team as a second choice goalie for the first team. Wenssens has been in post four times for the senior team whereas he is also the first choice keeper of the club’s youth team. KV Mechelen have threatened to boycott the game on Saturday if it is not rescheduled till their two goalkeepers recover from the virus.
