FABRICE NIYONKURU, known as Deejay Selekta Faba on KC2 TV, has officially started his music career with the first song dubbed ‘we share’ featuring one of the leading vocalists in the country, Bill Ruzima. Talking to The New Times, Faba revealed that he got the inspiration to join music from the likes of Afrobros of Netherlands, Walshy Fire of Jamaica, DJ Maphorisa from South Africa, and DJ Mustard from USA, to mention a few. “I used to see how they host a show and play their own music and I really got inspired to do the same thing here in Rwanda,” he said adding that, “I know its not easy but Ill do all that I can and I believe that Ill make it.” Commenting on the inspiration his first release We share, he said it’s an idea he got while jamming with his friends. “We started to bring back memories of our childhood and some stories we heard when we were young and the way we used to share everything,” he said. Getting the idea from his friend he said, Bill Ruzima was the one who tried to link childhood stories with todays situation , which inspired the making of the song. Ruzima came to my mind because he is an extraordinary artiste who can fit in every genre, Faba said. “After listening to his latest EP Hello me, thats when I confirmed his ability and started to contact him. He is so talented and a genius,” he added explaining why he chose to collaborate with Bill Ruzima. Selekta also revealed that this project is the first among many others that he has with Bill Ruzima, which will be out this year. The DJ, was born and raised in Gatsata-Gasabo district Kigali city as the last born in a family of two, where he grew up interested in music and football. Faba attended Gatsata Primary School and later joined Butamwa College,] Nyanza Technical School, where he graduated from high school and is currently completing a course in Civil Engineering at university. He started his career in 2018 after ending his training in disc jockeying at ‘Scratch Music Academy’. After learning some basic skills, he started disk jockeying at Flash FM for one month where he got introduced to DJ Diallo, someone he credits to giving him a bigger platform like LAPA BISTRO in DRC. In March 2019, Faba went to work at Magic FM, one of the leading radio stations in the country and after one year he became the official DJ of KC2. He is also the main disc jockey at Ubumwe Grande Hotel.
