FORMER Amavubi striker Jimmy Mulisa has been named as the new coach of Rwandan premier league side AS Kigali football club. The budding trainer replaces Eric Nshimiyimana who was fired on Sunday afternoon alongside his assistant Jabir Mutarambirwa following AS Kigali’s 2-1 defeat to Rayon Sports. Mulisa is expected to lead the club back to winning ways and put their target of wrestling the title from APR back in shape after their first defeat of the season to Rayon Sports on Saturday. He had a successful playing career with the likes of APR, KV Mechelen in Belgium and a host of others whereas in the coaching arena he has handled Sunrise FC, the Rwandan national team as well as APR. Mulisa recently founded a football foundation dubbed ‘Umuri’which seeks to pick talents from the streets and elsewhere to develop them into potential bright future stars. The first assignment of the 37-year-old as head coach of AS Kigali will be on Thursday, December 23 when he faces Gasogi United in an away encounter.
