Local league giants Rwanda Energy Group (REG) have announced the signing of right attacker Nelson Murangwa and setter Ivan Mahoro. The two players were formerly plying their trade with the University of Tourism (UTB) Volleyball Club. Speaking to Times Sport, Robert Ndabikunze, REGs team Manager described the duo as players with proven talent and quality. Both will boost our squad, we are happy to have them in our ranks for the next two years, he said. Murangwa, 28, is an experienced player who has played locally and had stints abroad with Tricolorul LMV Ploiesti in Romania, Denmark’s Middelfart Volleyball Club, and Japanese side Oita Miyoshi Weisel. He also briefly played for A.E. Komotini in Greece and Liiga Riento in Finland. Mahoro, 27, has previously featured for clubs including Rayon Sports (now defunct) He was part of the famous U21 national team that finished third at the 2013 CAVB African Junior Championships in Tunisia to qualify for the FIVB World Championships the same year, under the same age category, in Turkey.
