SC Kiyovu will welcome Rayon Sports at Kigali Stadium on Sunday, December 5, in the Rwanda Premier League week 7 top fixture. Games between the two clubs have always been keenly contested and the clash this weekend is no exception, especially with just two points separating them after six match rounds. Kiyovu started the season poorly as they were annihilated 4-0 by AS Kigali on match-day 2 but were able to recover by churning out some good results including wins over Musanze and Gicumbi. The Blues, on the other hand, have not fared badly with their only major setback being the 2-1 defeat to champions APR though they have also recorded draws with Rutsiro and Espoir. Coach Francis Haringingo has to devise a tactical plan to stop a menacing Rayon Sports team that has scored in every game they have played this season. It will be interesting to see how Kiyovu can stop Rayon’s Cameroonian import Willy Onana who has arguably been the best player in the league so far. Kiyovu, who have not won the league title since 1993, will hang their hopes on the likes of Abedi Birigimana, Kevin Ishimwe as well as Ramadhan Niyonkuru for a rare win over their oldest archrival. Generally, both sides have porous defence but Rayon look to have a sharper attack.
