A NEW MUSIC COMPETITION, ‘10-to-vibe’, will soon be identifying and promoting young artistes in Rwanda. The contest is designed to give the singers many opportunities, support to boost their talents. The 28 chosen singers had performed at a show called Vibin show which took place in March 2020. Jean Claude Niyomugabo, managing director of VibeInAfrika which promotes the Vibinshow said that the competition will take place for its first time this year and is expected to take place every year. The competition, he said, is slated to end on December 30, in a ceremony with a live performance of the winners and other artistes they collaborated with during the competition. The voting is now open on all the VibeInAfrika social media platforms. Some of the fast rising artistes in the competition include Kivumbi King, Derek Sano, Comfy, Kenny K Shot, Linda Montez, Rluta and Mistaek, among others. The top ten singers selected for the second phase will be announced on November 20, and will have a new song made with a video and its promotion and the song will be used in choosing the last four competitors who will go into the next stage. “The last four singers, will each have a a Rwandan artiste featured and the song will be promoted to compete for the first position. The winner of this competition will have a free album, one mega concert and a tour in a comedy festival that moves around Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi and Congo. The winners will also get money prizes but we haven’t made a final decision on the amount yet,” he says. The competition will have three stages, the first stage will be determined by the votes to make the top ten and panel of judges who will decided the winner. The 10-to-vibe competition and the Vibinshow are expected to take place every year.
