FAST RISING ARTISTE Zilha, real name Ismael Kavugwa, released a new track named ‘Visit Rwanda’, which explains all tourist attractions in Rwanda. The nine- minute song describes the beauty of Rwanda from tall towers in the city of Kigali, to beautiful sounds of birds in Nyungwe forest. In an interview with The New Times, Zilha said that ‘Visit Rwanda’ is a song that he has been working on for over three years, so that it can help Rwandans to explore and enjoy their country. “I realised that there are so many people who were born and raised in Rwanda but theyve never been to places like Kigali Convention Centre or any other remarkable place in Rwanda. It is time that we as Rwandans adopt tourism, not necessarily leaving it for foreigners. Every Rwandan deserves to explore their country,” he said. Born in 1993, Zilha grew up in Kigali Nyamirambo where he specialised in rap music. He started his career in 2018, when he participated in a talent competition named ‘Art Rwanda Ububanzi’, which was organised by Imbuto Foundation and Ministry of Youth. He made it to the finals of the competition and got a chance to be among the Art Rwanda Ububanzi finalists to be nurtured by Imbuto Foundation through its program ArtRwanda-Ubuhanzi. From then, he was discovered by many music supporters and was able to start his own home studio and dropped his first album ‘Batazagirango’ in 2019, with his very hit song Zararyoshye, a song that won the attention and admiration of many music lovers. Zilha is part of a song dubbed ‘Apwana,’ which is taking Kigali by storm, alongside other hits he made including ‘Zararyoshye’ remix, ‘Kuki Kuki’, and has also performed in several big events like Youth Connekt and Iwacu Muzika Fest.
