Volleyball: UTB’s decision to drop out of V-ball league triggers mixed reactions

The University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies (UTB)’s recent decision to drop the institution’s volleyball teams has sparked mixed reactions, Times Sport can report. The move has mainly triggered a backlash from majority of the affected players, sources have confirmed. Time Sports understands that players were informed of the directive earlier this week on Sunday, November 7. In wake of the news, this publication reached out to a reliable source from the club’s management, who confirmed citing various disputes as the sole reason. “There is a problem in top management because some executives dont want the team to exist,” the source added, “But others want the teams to survive.” There is no hope for survival however, following Sunday’s announcement that both teams wouldn’t participate in next month’s league, the source decried. If nothing is done to change the situation, both clubs will be rendered incapable of participating in the 2021/2022 upcoming season. UTB men volleyball team debuted in the national league five years ago, and has so far claimed various accolades including two Genocide Memorial Tournaments. Meanwhile, the women team has so far claimed two league championships with just three years of existence. It remains unclear if both parties will revert the decision following several complaints, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity. The senior management from the University had declined to confirm the news by press time.
